If you're looking for ideas of fun stuff to do this spring, here are a few recommendations from Drue and a few others from Good News Church GA. NOTE: Click on hyperlinked titles below to go to each website.

GWINNETT & METRO ATLANTA

1) The Oaks Miniature Golf - beautiful, outdoors, inexpensive, awesome!

2) Putt Shack - I took my kids a few weeks ago, and this is a blast! Indoors, high tech, and very fun. Located downtown off of 14th St. and Howell Mill Rd.

3) Arabia Mountain in Conyers, GA - Jason Jones took his family a few weeks ago and they highly recommend this outdoor adventure along with a visit to downtown Conyers. While in Conyers, you could also visit the beautiful Monastery of the Holy Spirit. For this and other day trip travel ideas, check out Jason's wife, Kerry's, Instagram Mainstreet.Backroads

4) Putting Course at Cumming City Center - This is a putting golf course (no windmills) with holes designed after local golf courses. Micah and I enjoyed it this week already. Really fun!

5) Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge - Located an hour away in Dawsonville, GA, this waterfall is amazingly beautiful! You can park at the bottom and walk up the 604 steps to the top, or you can park at the top and enjoy the view from The Lodge (where there's also a restaurant if you'd like to include lunch or dinner).

6) Waterfall Hikes - There are lots and lots of waterfall hiking trails within a 1-2 hour drive from us here in Gwinnett County. They range from a relativeily easy 2 mile hike to a 7 miles or more hike, so be sure to get all the details before you go. Waterfall hikes that have been recommended to me include Panther Creek Falls, Raven Cliff Falls, DeSoto Falls, Angelica Falls, Minnehaha Falls, and more.

DAY TRIPS

1) Chattanooga Zoo - "I've been to a handful of zoos, and this one is my favorite! It's small, but that's not a bad thing. It's really great, informative, and interactive. We love it!" - Andy Welch (Good News Church GA)

2) Biblical History Center - We've heard that this is a fantastic resource and very informative experience, less than 2 hours away in LaGrange, GA. You might be able to combine this with seeing Providence Canyon State Park since they're in the same general direction.

3) Providence Canyon State Park - A little less than 3 hours south of Atlanta, this  state park is worth the trip. You might be able to combine this with the Biblical History Center since they're both in the same general direction.

4) Pearl Fryar's Topiary Garden - It's about a 4 hour drive to Bishopville, SC (an hour past Columbia), but this free topiary garden is quite amazing. Pearl Fryar's story (watch this 2 minute video) and his topiary art is just fascinating. I'm not sure I'd drive 4 hours just for this, but I'd think about it. We've been, and it's incredible. You could combine it wiht a stop in Columbia, SC or Greenville, SC, or just go for it and make it a fun day trip adventure. Definitely recommended!

5) Booth Western Art Museum - "An affiliate of the Smithsonian Museums of Washington D.C., and located just over an hour away in Cartersville, GA, this museum is worth your time." - Kevin Ward (Good News Church GA). You can also combine your day trip visits to other great museums in Cartersville and the surrounding area including the Tellus Science Museum, Savoy Auto Museum, and the Etowah Indian Mounds State Park.

6) Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History  - An affiliate of the Smithsonian Museums of Washington D.C., and located less than an hour away in Kennesaw, GA, this museum is worth visiting. You can also combine your day trip visits to other great museums just a few minutes up I-75 in Cartersville including the Tellus Science Museum, Savoy Auto Museum, Booth Western Art Museum, and the Etowah Indian Mounds State Park.

7) Tellus Science Museum - Located just over an hour away in Cartersville, GA, this museum is very interactive and great for kids. You can also combine your day trip visits to other great museums in Cartersville and the surrounding area including the Booth Western Art Museum, Savoy Auto Museum, and the Etowah Indian Mounds State Park.
